Fund Overview

The Global Data Centre Group provides the opportunity to access a portfolio of investments in data centres that it believes should benefit from the strong growth in data driven by cloud, internet and IOT.

The underlying portfolio of data centres within the Group includes data centres in Asia Pacific that are exposed to Hyperscale cloud growth and regional/edge data centres in Europe.

Investment Strategy

The strategy of the Global Data Centre Group was to provide investors with medium to long term capital growth and some income from a portfolio of data centre businesses. In July 2023 after a unitholder vote, the strategy has shifted and the fund is unlikely to make any new investments and instead will seek to realise value over the medium term through asset disposals.

Investment Approach

The Fund will capitalise of Lanrik Partner’s deep network and expertise to source data centre businesses and assets with a focus on operators with exposure to Hyperscale, Ecosystem and regional facilities

Etix Everywhere
In February 2023 Etix Everywhere raised a $46.8million equity commitment through a new capital partner, Eurazeo through their Eurazeo Transition Infrastructure Fund.
 
Etix Everywhere now owns and operates 10 edge data centre businesses in France, Belgium, Colombia and Thailand.

Fujitsu Perth Data Centre

In September 2019 the Fund purchased a data centre in Malaga, Western Australia for A$37m.

The data centre is a purpose built, level 2 facility commissioned in 2010 with a gross leasable area of approximately 6,600 sqm. It is 100% leased to Fujitsu on a triple net lease.

AirTrunk

In September 2020 the Fund acquired a A$25m stake in the Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) consortium that owns 88% of Airtrunk.

Airtrunk is an Asia Pacific data centre operator with 8 data centre assets located in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

In November 2020 the Fund acquired A$1.4m of units in the Global Data Centre Securities Fund (ASX:DATA).

The DATA Fund is an active ETF investing in data centre securities across the globe. It provides exposure to an underlying portfolio of over 600 data centres in 38 countries.

Meet the Fund Managers

David Yuile
Founder and MD

David is the Managing Director of the Investment Manager and will be responsible for overall strategic direction of the Fund and the investment process. David has more than 25 years’ experience in listed, private equity and pension fund financed companies specialising in the telecommunications and data centre industries. Most recently he was CEO of data centre provider Metronode Group and prior to that, was the CEO of Nextgen and AAPT.

He has led more than $2.5bn worth of M&A including the sale of Metronode to Equinix for $1.035bn in April 2018 and Nextgen Networks to Vocus for $806m in 2016.

Matt Bowden
Finance Director
Matt has worked in finance and professional services since 2005. Prior to joining Lanrik he was an Associate Director in Macquarie Capital’s financial management group focused on providing financial transaction advice and also spent 7 years based in London and had various financial controllership roles with GE Capital Real Estate, GIC and Logicor Europe. Matt commenced his career with EY Sydney where he became a Chartered Accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales.

John d’Almeida
Fund Manager
John is the Fund Manager and will be involved in the strategic direction, investment decisions and day to day management of the Fund. John has more than 28 years experience in the direct property and funds management industry both domestically and internationally, having had prior roles with CBRE, AMP Capital investors, Colonial First State, Qatri Diar (a subsidiary of Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund) and GPT.
This experience has been gained in various capacities including valuation, REIT analysis, funds management, development, research and portfolio strategy.  

John has a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Property with post graduate qualifications in finance and investment.
